Catholic Medical Mission Board raises the bulk of its online revenue during the Christmas and the year-end season from organic traffic to the site. In the years prior to this, they hadn't sent email appeals to their audience but had sent other messages that were mission-focused. To be successful we needed to create a series of year-end emails incorporating a matching gift challenge.

In the emails, we highlighted the fact that every gift made online and through the mail from now to the end of the year will be matched up to a total of $50,000. We then re-sent the emails emphasizing the importance of making a gift before the end of the year. We also reinforced the fact that the post office is closed on the weekend, so it was the donor’s last chance to make a gift.

The emails alone raised a total of $30,696 with an average gift of $164.15. They raised 19% more than they did in 2009.
